By now, you must’ve already guessed that I have a sweet tooth and also how I love incorporating fruits into my creations. I like bringing out the essence of the fruits and highlighting them in my desserts. This one is dear to me as I have used the plums from my sister’s garden to make a delicious and soulful jam! It’s way, way better than store-bought and once you get the hang of it you’ll be making them at home on a regular basis! Did I also mention that it contains only 3 ingredients? It sweet, slightly tangy & tickles your taste buds. We had it with toast and pancakes and it pairs well with literally anything! Try this out and thank me later ! 😉

Ingredients:

  • Ripe plums –  6 large 
  • Sugar – 3 tablespoons 
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon 

Instructions: 

  1. Wash and peel the plums. Dice them well and leave out the seed. In a wide saucepan, add the diced plums and turn on the heat. Cook on medium flame for a minute and add in the sugar. Mix well and let it cook for 5 minutes stirring occasionally. The sugar will start to melt and will get incorporated into the plums which in turn will start bubbling. Lower the flame and drizzle lemon juice. Once the plums turn soft, mash them using a potato masher or a whisk until they have a thick consistency. Do not blend it, mashing it slightly will give it the consistency of jam. Turn off the stove after 5 minutes and transfer to an airtight container. Store in a refrigerator. You can either serve it warm or cold as it tastes great both ways! It’s a perfect accompaniment to toasts, biscuits, scones & any type of dessert!
